What it means to Reboot

(Excerpted from Reboot Yourself's Prologue)

According to Lifewire.com,

“When you reboot your computer, every single program and process ends as the power leaves your computer during the restart process. Once your computer starts back up, you have a clean slate and, usually, a faster, better working computer.”

The same applies in life.

But turn off what?

You may have a very clear definition of what’s holding you back (even if you don’t know what you’re being held back from). The obstacles usually come under one of these headings:

People

We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. Who are you becoming because of who you hang around with?

Places

Physical or metaphorical places can limit our prospects and keep us trapped in old ways of thinking.

Professions

Work is where we spend most of our waking hours, and there are lots of ways that work can hold us back. It could be the work itself – maybe we’re not playing to our strengths. It could be the workmates or the boss – and remember, these are people we generally can’t choose.

Patterns

Patterns – or habits –are by far the biggest enablers of our suffering and our success.
